About
Ever since my friend and I started our high school entertainment magazine (Entertainment News & Views) way back in 1989 I’ve had a penchant for penning reviews, editorials, opinions and the occasional rant. Looking back it seems like time has whizzed by at warp speed but with the exception of a few extra grey hairs my passion for writing still burns brightly although time constraints prevent me from really contributing more. Of course, the arrival of my son has chewed up even more time but I’ve discovered the joy (and occasional frustration!) of raising a human being.
Since those high school days my life has taken me through many different professions ranging from cinema to marketing, website administrator and finally to IT networking. Now I’ve decided to embark on a new chapter of my life by finishing off my MBA but who really knows where that will take me!
Till then, I’m still the “Great W” for all those who know me and yes, I’m still a big Trekkie no matter what J.J.Abrams does to the planet Vulcan. I still probably play too many video games but old habits die hard.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog entries and leave many (hopefully positive!) comments.
As a note, some of you might be wondering just why I have a female avatar up there (my Xbox Live one to be exact) to which I’ll direct your attention to what one of the designers of the original Tomb Raider once said back when the team initially designed Lara Croft as a burly man. When asked why they changed the lead to a woman he replied that if he had to spend the next 10-20 hours of his life staring at a TV screen that he’d rather look at a woman’s behind rather than some bloke. I concur! And for all you video game fans out there who would know what I’m about to say next, female Commander Shepherd kicks Male Shepherd all over the citadel.
Live long and prosper.
